  1. Prior to each game, there will be a 10-minute warm-up period. All basketballs except the game ball must be put back in the coach’s ball bag before tap-off.
  2. Each game will consist of 4 quarters, each being ten minutes running time. Overtime periods will be 5 minutes. Only one overtime period will be played. If the game is tied after one overtime, then the game will end in a tie.
  3. After the first quarter tap-off, the alternating possession rule will be in effect for the remainder of the game, except in overtime. The overtime period will start with a tap-off and move to alternating possession thereafter.
  4. Time will be stopped for infractions during the last 2 minutes of the game and on all time-outs (called by referee or team).
  5. Half time will be 5 minutes in duration.
  6. There is no pressure allowed in the backcourt for 9-10 boys & girls as well as 11-12 girls. All other age groups may apply man-to-man full-court pressure during the 4th quarter only.
  7. Zone defenses are not allowed at any time. Double-teaming is not allowed at any time. Help defense is allowed inside the key area only. No trapping is allowed at any time.
  8. Each team is allowed 3 time-outs per game. Time-outs may be called only when a team has possession of the basketball. Each team is allowed 1 time out in the overtime period.
  9. Each player is required to sit out at least ONE ENTIRE QUARTER. Coaches must agree PRIOR to the start of the game on alternatives to this rule (i.e. substituting at 5 minute intervals, etc.). Scorers will be monitoring playing time.
  10. Each team is allowed 6 team fouls per half. The 7th team foul in any half will result in a 1 and 1 free throw shooting situation. A technical foul assessed to any coach or team will result in 2 free throws for the opposing team and loss of possession. Any coach or player who accumulates 2 technical fouls in a game will be ejected from the game and gym.
  11. Players cannot foul out of a game prior to the 4th quarter. If a player picks up his/her 5th (or more) foul during the 4th quarter, they will be required to sit for the remainder of the game and any overtime.
  12. League provided basketballs only are allowed in the gym. Coaches shall communicate to all players to leave personal basketballs at home. All girls’ teams and 9-10 boys’ teams will use 28.5” basketballs. All 11-12 and 13-14 boys’ teams will use regulation 29.5” basketballs.
  13. Coaches must remain on the sidelines at all times except to assist his team in matching up against the opposing team prior to tap-off or the resumption of play.
  14. Players shall stay away from the scorer’s table unless he/she is reporting in to enter the game. Players entering the game shall kneel at the scorer’s table until a whistle stoppage of play.
